    Great

Beautiful building. Food for Friends, which can be found only 350 m away, was a fast option. The hotel was near to Hove Park. Property provided us with a free WiFi.

    Very good

This hotel is well located for the sea front and Royal Pavilion, with a decent sized bedroom and a comfortable lounge where a good sandwich lunch could be bought.

The furnishings were a bit worn - a large hole in the carpet at the door into the bathroom was mended with sticky tape. A charge was made for paying by credit or debit card - unusual? But at the off-season price I paid, still good value.

The location of the hotel was excellent and overall good value for the price however the hotel decor was in need of some improvement

    Very good

I visited the hotel during low season and thus it was excellent value for money.

There was a fire in the kitchen when I was at breakfast and evacuation was a little disorganised.

    Great

I stay 3 days and I enjoyed thoroughly. The location was perfect for me : beach just opposite to the hotel , high street just around the corner and coach stop was right behind the hotel. The part is 'value for money'.

    Very good

Breakfast was very good, but coffee too strong. Service was also good, but the personnel could speak better english. Location is excellant and the bubblebath surprised positively. I could come again.

Maybe bit better cleaning... and more cups and tea-coffee -material for every rooms.

    Very good

large seaview room, very comfortable, good value for money, good breakfast lots of choice

  • 8.2
    Great

the setting, jacuzzi in bathroom views from widow

toilets were a long way from reception and smelt horrible in ladies.... breakfast was of poor quality, food in restaurant was like school dinners.

    Nice

We liked the room which was ok but the best thing was the view looking out over Brighton Pier with the distant sound of the surf rolling up the shingle beach . . . lovely. I loved the hotels statley-ness like a great dowager Aunt maintaining her deportment whil'st all around is shifting.

The tiredness of rooms which were fine overall but due to poor maintenance felt a bit neglected ie; broken redundant toilet fixtures and wardrobe doors. Breakfast was a bit of a scrum but then the hotel was fully booked.

The Location was very good, lounge had lovely view of beach and pier, staff were friendly.

In need of modernization to rooms

  • 6.6
    Nice

The location opposite and overlooking the Brighton pier and close to shopping center. Various restaurants nearby.

Poor/fair comfort; - lift out of order during our whole stay, - only English breakfast, - cracking floors on corridors and in rooms keeping you awake.

  • 5.8
    Guest rating

The bar staff especially were really pleasant and the lounge had great views over the pier and the sea.

The lift had been out of order for weeks and climbing to the 4th floor was hard for my convalescent wife. The room was very cold and the mattress on the bed was dreadful.

  • 8.2
    Great

Location is excellent, room was fine and fairly clean, breakfast good quality and plentiful, towels changed daily, very reasonable cost and overall excellent value.

Cleaning regime in bathroom could certainly be improved upon and was a little surprised that it wasn't until after booking in and being given room on 3rd floor that they decided to tell us that lift was out of order until further notice which was for the whole duration of our stay. Made things a little difficult as my partner had recently had surgery on her knee and experienced quite a lot of problems with the 72 stairs to the 3rd floor

  • 7.8
    Very good

The hotel was beautifully located and completely original.

The room was poky and bore no resemblance to the rooms advertised on the website. Also the lift was broken for the duration of our stay and we were on the fifth floor.

  • 5.0
    Guest rating

The location of the hotel was very good.

The fact that I had booked and paid for a superior room and had to spend the first night in a dark, cellar basement room. The lift was not working for the duration of the stay so we had to carry luggage up & down flights of stairs. Our luggage was mislaid on the second day when we had to move rooms.
